The last 24 hours

Last Night...

Went over Caitlyn's around 7pm, hung out for awhile, then decorated Carrie's car (which shall hereafter be referred to as the pottermobile). Headed over to Party City around 9pm (with the pottermobile cranking out the 3rd HP soundtrack) to pick up some stuff. Carrie and I just bought Harry Potter glasses, but Cailtin got some ice mice and chocolate frogs and stuff. Stopped at Sheetz for provisions (massive quantities of caffeine), where several people looked at us strangely (this was a combination of the pottermobile and our outfits. I was wearing my "Muggle" t-shirt, Caitlyn was wearing a "Seeker" shirt, and Carrie was wearing a red and gold striped polo and an assortment of other gryffindor-related paraphanelia).

Got to Barnes and Noble shortly after 9pm where we promptly began running into tons of ppl we went to high school with, many of whom I would NOT have expected to see at a Harry Potter party. We camped out in a corner with Carrie's HP blanket and played Caitlyn's HP UNO. Made some strange 10 year old friends, one of whom was a little girl (or so we finally determined from her name), who had come as Draco Malfoy. Wandered around and practiced responding to the question "How old are you?" with the answer "15." lol. I could pass for 15, right? MUCH less embarrassing than 20. There were, however, some fully grown adults dressed in full wizard costumes, so I didn't feel too weird.

Watched the costume contest at 10pm. There were about a hundred Harrys and Hermiones, but there were some unique costumes as well. I was particularly impressed by the toilet-seat-wearing moaning myrtle, the Gilderoy Lockhart, the Hedwig, the baby Norbert (Adorable 4 year old girl), and the Sybill Trelawney. The costume winners got free copies of the book, which ALMOST made me wish I'd have worn a costume. But, once again, twenty is a bit too old to do that without some serious psychological issues.

Participated in the trivia game for about 15 minutes before we got thoroughly disgusted with how ridiculously easy the questions were (it wasn't just b/c we're old either, b/c some of the 9 year olds were complaining about them). By this time, there had to be at least a couple thousand people crammed into B&N and the Starbucks line had about 100 people in it, so Caitlyn and I made a quick trip to the Starbucks 2 minutes away where there were absolutely no lines. Yay for us.

Since I hadn't planned on being in PA for the release, I hadn't pre-ordered until June, so there were approximately 1,500 preorder customers ahead of me. Since Caitlyn pre-ordered in January, she had her book by 12:03am. I got my copy some time around 1:30am. Caitlyn, Carrie, Steph, Carrie W., Jim, Amy, and I headed to Denny's for breakfast. I wasn't really hungry, but apparantley you can't just order like an english muffin or toast or anything at Denny's, and the smallest thing on the menu was the two-egg breakfast (w/toast, hashbrowns, bacon, and sausage). Needless to say, I didn't finish it. I read through the entire meal, which seemed to annoy a few people, but only b/c I caught up with them. Went to Caitlyn's and read until 7:30 am. Attempted to drive home and got horribly lost on back roads cause I made a wrong turn or two (note to self - learn a sense of direction). Ended up coming home through Freedom. Stopped for gas and got back around 9am. Took 30 minute break to help my grandma with something on the computer. Read from 9:30am-11am. Finished book. Cried for about 30 minutes or so. Called all other HP friends to see how far they were. Went back through parts of book trying to make sense of a few things. Caitlyn finished around 12:30p, so we spent an hour or so discussing the book. Called Jess and Caitlin again. Tried to make myself eat, but kind of seem to have made myself sick by the whole excessive caffeinne + no sleep thing. Bad idea. I don't recommend it. Took a 3 hour nap. Talked to Corey about her fun night of working HP night at Walden's. Took some aspirin. Went back through certain parts of book again. Ate dinner. Talked to Meg. Typed excessive livejournal entry telling people things they couldn't possibly care about.

Now thinking about going back to sleep for a very long time.
